About

Brother and Sister Adventure Partners Lucy and Phil are taking on the West Coast via car, hike, bike and packraft! Growing up a big family in the Midwest camping was the most economical way to vacation and its a good thing we all loved nature and outdoors. Now as we set out to live a dirt bag lifestyle on the road, living out of a backpack for months on end we hope explore new landscapes, make new friendships and get wicked strong!

Alaska will always be my first love, however my heart has been yearning to explore other landscapes and ecosystems. I’ve always been a big adventure planner and my bucket list gets longer and longer with each passing day, so I figured the best way to accomplish big goals was to work hard, quit my job take a year off and do it all at once!  Completing a long distance through hike has been a dream of mine since I first learned about the Appalachian Trail in middle school. When my brother Phil and I decided to hike the Pacific Crest Trail I figured if we’d be hiking from Mexico to Canada then we should ride our bikes back to Mexico via Highway 101! That’s one big loop, never really liked out and back trail hiking anyhow.

Phil

Hello, my name is Philip, but everyone calls me Phil except Lu (Lucy) she has called me PJ since we were kids. Lu’s my younger sister by two years we have five other siblings, and all of us grew up camping with are family.
Between camping on family vacations, Boy Scout trips, and other outdoor adventures, I developed a love of exploring, hiking, wildlife and the wilderness, which as stuck with me my whole life.
With a some what recent divorce under my belt, I found myself living at my parents house back in my home town, when suddenly out of no where I quit my job to live off my savings and travel to as many National Parks as I could. That was when Lu and I started talking about the PCT, and how we needed to do some thing fun and challenging.
So, I moved to Anchorage, Alaska where Lu is living to work and save for this adventure we decided to take on, this way we’d be able to help each other prepare and plan.
I’m writing this one-week before we leave, and find it odd that I have no expectations of what a trip like this will be like.
But I hope you follow us along the way as we figure it out, and we share our experience.

-Phil
